Post subject:  kerma, grd, or inmotion
done alot of research and cant decide on which one. kinda leaning toward kerma cause you can clear trouble codes and i dont have to send my computer off or buy another one, but want some advice from people that has experience with them cause im new to these.

First off it's GDE. And they offer a couple of options you didn't list. GDE has a loader you can "rent" to flash your ECM without raising your hood then return it :!: It also will clear codes and if you deside it might be usefull you can buy it :SOMBRERO: It also gives you the abaility to switch between tunes. Or their exchange program where they send you a programmed ECM charging you a deposit that's refunded when you return your old one.

GDE's tunes have a number of often forgotten "features". The one I think is neat is my fuel guage now gives me true readings :JEEPIN:

There's also a "Rocket Tune" available.

Something else to remember is the difference between a chip and a tune. The tune operates on real values from sensors and alters the algorithms at which certain other things occur in the actual computer programming. Chips typically operate inline (hence the "don't have to alter your computer") but they fool the computer into doing things that it possibly shouldn't, so they are less invasive, but riskier from a reliability standpoint.

The filter housing and convertor have been replaced and an intank lift pump installed. I did the elephant hose mod and gonna be putting boost and egt gauges in soon.

I have been agonizing over this decision for several months. I have read everything I could find on this topic and finally made a decision. I went with the GDE ECO tune. It's a lot of money to part with but I figure it has a two year pay back in fuel consumption alone.

My advice is to take your time and get the tune that makes the most since for you.

I just ordered the ECO tune from GDE today. I did so for all the little fixes that I don't see the other's doing.

I have the GDE Eco tune. I rented the thing to upload it and sent it back. I do almost wish I would have had spent the extra to keep it but I didn't. The tune was super easy to load in and Keith was a great guy to deal with, he does a lot to help support the CRD community. his tune does some many little things too, like make the fuel gauge more accurate, nearly stops EGR use so the valve last better, suppresses some silly EGR codes from giving you a CEL, give you more power, better MPG, I think my jeep just drives so much smoother with less turbo lag then ever. there is more that I can't think of that helps with performance and reliability. again the tune was easy to install. I didn't need any tools other than my netbook computer. I did the whole thing in my drive way uploaded and downloaded the files by email to the flash tool over my wi-fi. It took so little time.... I have heard the 2005's take a bit linger to load the tune to than the 2006 but it should still be not more than 15-20 minutes. Best Mod I have done so far.

GDE +9999

Kerma is not up to the speed that GDE is on these trucks. They are also not exactly "stand up" people either. (From experience with my wife's TDI... I won't go into it here.)

GDE +9999 +1 = +10000 !!!!

Did ECO TUNE in May 2011 and one more of those GDE little pluses was ECO TUNE came with Metal Glow Plug flash since I just upgraded. Best tune move I have ever made!

More than a little plus this is a huge motivator as it saves handing over $200 to the dealer for an ECM flash that's going to eventually have to be done after I've used my remaining spare ceramic GP's. Just need to decide whether to buy the tool or not. Does anyone know if GDE charges extra to supply two variants of the ECO tune, with and without metal GP support.
