http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=Uq ... esel&hl=en Highlights: Quote: Although official mileage figures are not yet available, it is expected that new turbo diesel model Jeeps, equipped with manual transmission, will deliver an estimate 7.6 Liters per 100 kilometers (37 mpg) in city driving and 6.5 L/100 km (43 mpg) on the highway. So who's gonna be the first to buy one? |

Those French diesels were garbage, in addition to being weak. So actually, I would pass. Thanks. |

Diesel by Renault (Ray NO), remember the Alliance? What a piece of French Engineering OldSkull may want to to correct my French but every time you make it to your destination (or get it to start with a mug of Iced Tea in the cab) you need to say, "Merci Putain". |

After this debacle? Nope, if I get a diesel it will be one that's been out and tested. Cummins seems the best with only the egr and dpf. Very easy to bypass. No blue stuff to freeze. |

Surprised no one has posted this yet. I have seen it several times now. Future Jeep models in the U.S. could be powered by diesel engines, says the CEO of the Chrysler's Jeep brand. CEO Michael Manley said Jeep would start with diesels on the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Grand Cherokee in the U.S. and Canada within two or three years, reports Brent Snavely of the Detroit Free Press. Diesel engines could help Jeep improve its fuel economy and would give customers another option against high gas prices. "Diesel in some of our models makes absolute sense," Manley told the Free Press in Auburn Hills, Mich., as he revealed six specialized Jeeps that will participate later this month at a the annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, like the one shown in the photo above. "But I still have to make sure there is a sufficient marketplace here to make it make sense from a business perspective." Even as gas prices have climbed, diesel has remained relatively overlooked. Volkswagen and Audi have scored with diesel models, which can get up to 25% better fuel mileage than gasoline. But not many others. Yet in Europe, diesel remains the fuel of choice for just about anything because it's cheaper than gas because of a different tax structure. Diesel is considered a better way to fight global warming than gas. |

"Gringos? Maroons?" Mexican term for us non mexican folks in the USA. (Gringo) Warner Brothers "Looney Tunes" speak for moron. Both Looney Tunes AND moron ironically fits the EPA. |

I certainly know what a Gringo is, and I was wondering if Moron was the intended use instead of maroons. You have to understand though that its a little incongruous to use Gringo when referring to the EPA. |

Incongruous... Boy, that word is above my pay grade. I'll have to wait till the Princess gets home for that definition. I meant gringo for the USA car companies. Gee, I'm going to have to get my 5 grade english book out and straighten myself out. I've been bamboozled by a language I've been trying to use since I was two. Curse you english... |

"LOL "I still don't see why you would call US car companies gringos." You know, I don't remember now. All I can say is, I'm glad my 5th grade teacher hasn't seen this disaster in creative writing. She constantly informed me with each attempt at the use of english, that I did not have, "ANY POSSIBILITY of communicating in a civilized society with anything better than three letter words, guttural grunts, and simple hand gestures.." |
