So I have the chance to buy a Crd motor out of a 06 with 30000 miles. Just curious if u guys think it's worth $500. They said that there is coolant in the oil, what do u think could be wrong. Thanks

Could be something very simple or very expensive, but $500. is a great deal if it's something simple like a head gasket or similar. If you have the tools, time, knowledge and some $$ you may be able to fix it yourself. What you going to do with it??

Thinking about fixing it and selling it to any member interested, or just keep it for a spare cause mine just hit 120k

That is a deal... No matter which ever way you look at it.

What is a good website for internal and external parts for these motors

If it were a new head, I would imagine a few thousand dollars would be a fair price to ask for it but I am not sure what a used or rebuilt one would be worth.

I believe that Sir Sam has a pretty good idea what used parts are worth.

1st check on coolant in oil is the oil/water oil cooler on the side under the turbo
the gasket can leak.

Don't really know where everything is on it. I looked at it one time and I was in a hurry. I was just wanting to know a good place to buy new parts online for it so I can get it fixed up

Are you getting the wiring and ECU and stuff with it too? So once you fix it, it'll be ready to drop into anything?

Keep in mind that all the parts in the CRD are worth $500 individually. Pistons and rods are more than that, valvetrain is more than that, etc. So an entire engine for $500 is a deal, even if something is broken on it.

I can have it if I want it just no tranny

Well, you better snatch it quick.

For just a longblock you might sit on it forever hoping to sell a rod or piston or head.

For a complete engine $500 would be worth it, turbo, injectors, Injection pump etc, could all be parted for much more than that.

For $500 I would grab it.

Good thing is I'm just #2 Crd in the area that I know of

We should talk about parts on that... I have a substantial collection of external parts including the complete wiring harness for the engine. I also have the external coolers and EGR nonsense, should you need them.

Only slight hijack,

How do you check if a gasket is leaking? Can it be small leak when cold that closes up when warm?

i would say it could with expansion of gasket material. yes we should get together on parts you might be quite helpful
