Last night the CRD started running bad. Hissing sound
under the driver's side side panel/dashboard. The CEL
came on and the Jeep is surging and won't accelerate.

It does not do it in Neutral or park, so I don't think it's
air in the fuel or ruptured turbo hoses.

I have to go to Advance Auto later anyway, I'll have them
read the code.... If I make it there........

Thanks in advance for your help.......

John

Ok now here are some questions to start deciphering your issue.

How many miles on the vehicle?
Do you have a provent or similar device installed?
Do you have a GDE tune?

or whatever else you can tell us.

Check the CAC hoses for a split.

I believe that your driver side CAC hose is split. :2cents:

58,000 miles.

No aftermarket tune unless PO had it done.

No Provent, EHM or ORM.

Advance Auto hooked their scanner to it.
Code was for turbo underboost.

I will check the CAC hoses. The turbo spools up
normally with and without a load.

It is probably the driver's side CAC hose. Will keep
you posted.

Thanks for the help......

The driver's side CAC hose has a 2-3" gash
in it. I duct taped it for now, seems to be holding.

I have an extended warranty with $100 deductible
but they want me to take it 45 minutes North to the
dealership where I bought it.

I think I will just order new ones from Moparparts
and call it good.....

You may want to investigate the Samco hoses as an alternative. These have silicon lining to prevent oil bleed through and they will not weaken over time. The OEM turbo side is now silicon, but the driver side is still the original bad design (internal layer is orange=bad). Samcos are about $50 more, but it will be the last set needed for the CRD. There is a 'sticky' topic comparing the hoses for more detailed information if interested. Enjoy the CRD!

Thanks GDE,
I was contemplating the Smaco's, but there was
discussion about them "bulging" and swelling.
I have not ordered them yet, maybe I'll go with
the Smaco hoses.

Ordered the Samco's, $256 with tax and shipping.
I ordered the blue ones, gonna be pretty.

The one from the turbo the IC is oily too, it
will be good to replace the pair and be done.

Thanks for the feedback guys.....

I've been running Samco's for a while now with no issues. Thoughts on the install though. The Samco exterior diameter appears to be slightly larger than stock which is not a big issue but the hoses lack the witness marks of the factory hose. As a result once you get them on and before tightening the hose clamps be sure to take a careful look to make sure both hoses are completely clear of things they might rub against. Some folks report rubbing on the air box and on my driver's side I had issues with a vertical gray wiring plug on the engine side (ultimately took a file to the fins on that plug to get good clearance). Rotating the hoses on their mounts should get you adequate clearance with no problem. Best tighten the hose clamps with a nut driver rather than a screwdriver and recheck tightness after the first 100 miles or so. After that you can forget them other than to enjoy the pretty blue, same color as mine.

Got the Samcos on today. The fit was perfect.
I cut a little piece out of one of the old hoses and
put it in between the air box hose and the new turbo
to intercooler hose.

I used the old clamps.......
