Just placed the order last night. And got an email saying this. Thank you for your order the thermostat you ordered is currently on backorder with no release date if you could please reply to this e-mail and let us know how you would like to proceed. Is this a dealer wide thing now? I'm kinda afraid to wait and not be able to get one when i really need it. Mine is running about 1 need width passed the middle tick between the 1/4 and 1/2 mark. The only time i can get it up close to 12:00 is with a 18ft car trailer behind it. In 50-75 deg weather it still runs right at the middle tick mark between the 1/4 and 1/2 mark. How many of you are running the inline t-stat now? And how did you go about doing it with the stocker in place? |

I called about 20 jeep dealers throughout the US yesterday looking for the t-stat and each one told me that there were none available in the entire country. ![]() |

I installed the inline thermostat without touching the tired stock one. I removed the top radiator hose and cut about three inches from the engine side and about an inch from the radiator side. The inline unit went in the outlet of the stock thermostat using the three inch section and the shortened hose connecting that to the radiator. The inlet to the inline housing is less than about a quarter inch from the outlet of the stock thermostat housing. It was a ten minute job (not counting the coolant flush). My temp gauge was one tick up from the quarter mark before the installation of the inline, and now just a hair shy of straight up. I am using a stock 192 degree thermostat from an '85 camaro with no modification inside the inline housing. I think I paid ~$70 for the inline housing and ~$6 for the thermostat. - Art |

I actually called Steve White too, they are unable to locate the 4 t-stats that they show are in stock. |

Wow I got mine from the same place on January. I placed the order in the evening and the status said waitiing for warehouse delivery the next day. The second day it shipped and they emailed a tracking #. Mopar online parts is Just a Jeep dealer that sells near wholesale online. They are Westburry Dodge Chrysler Jeep in New York, Long Island I think. When I was looking for one local and no dealer had one or could get it at a decent price, one of the dealers told me the national demand for that part was less than 10 per week. Wonder if Chrysler just keeps a small stock of them in the warehouse and then orders more from the supplier when that is exausted. The part is made in Italy. |

turbobike wrote: how about EBAY? Steve White Motors has had one on there for quite a while. I just found the ebay listing for steve white motors. It says they have 4 available. I was having problems while trying to order from their site and i emailed them. I got a reply saying they are on back order. Now that reply came AFTER i got the site figured out and working(ad placing my order), and after i had recieved that reply i found the ones listed by them on ebay. I will be replying to the email telling me they are on backorder to ask them how they can have them listed on ebay as having 4 of them. This is as bad as trying to get a T/C. The time i start looking for one is when they change the part # and start charging core fee's along with a huge price jump. |

I tried ordering one off EBAY from Steve White Motors. Order went thru.....then came back "not available". I see the listing has been removed. I think I'm going to go with the in-line thermostat mentioned here on the forum. Seems like a workable alternative. |

They may have taken it down due to my email asking "how can you say they are out of stock and still have them listed as more than one available on ebay"? That and since you had ordered one. Also I just recieved an email from moparonlineparts and they said they just updated the arrival date, and he could possibly have one next week. So we'll see. I am hessitant to do the inline t-stat with the stocker there as im affraid if it fails and closes i'll need one anyway. |

I just did mt thermostat at the dealer about a month ago. When I ordered the stock unit, I got the "national backorder" response. The parts rep made a few calls and was somehow able to track a shipment of 26 or so coming into the U.S. He told me to go ahead and order it so one would get reserved for me. Long story short, I placed the backorder and had it 3 days later. Not sure if that was just good timing, or a dealer actually trying to go out of the way for the customer...shocker, I know! |
