It's understandable that you're new and have this question, but try the search function and you'll find about 15 prior threads dating back (literally) years on this topic with lots of good information.

I use Shell Rotella T6 5W40. I can get it at Wal-mart, last time I got some it was $19.50 a gallon or $6.22 in quarts. Many other parts places carry it too. Its easy to find and good oil that's why I choose it.

There are many threads here on oil and everyone thinks the one they use is best.

Royal Purple, Mobil 5w-40 turbo diesel blend, Mobil 0w-40, next run with be amsoil. My favorites would probably be the Royal Purple and next would be the Turbo Diesel blend both seem to run smoother and cleaner.

Tried Several, Mobil1, Castrol, Quaker State and others. Now I have settled on Rotella T6 0W40. It's priced lower than the rest and my CRD runs quietest with Rotella. I drive alot, so I change it 5 to 6 times a year.
Used to swear by Mobil1 as I used that in my gasser's and still do.

Mobil 1 5w-40 turbo diesel, was Rotella T6 5W-40 until the M1 turbo diesel came out. The M1 seems to hold in the crankcase better.
