I started up the crd, put it in drive and stopped at the end of my driveway, threw it in reverse and it stalled. It started right up... the stalling thing may have happened once before that i recall... |

If you have more vibration the same frquency as the engine RPMs, better check the bolts holding the torque converter to the flex plate. If the vibration is a lower frequency, might be a drive shaft issue, loose bolts, bad joint, loose rear mount. |

Stalling may be air in fuel, bleed at the fuel filter head, or transmission fluid drain back due to a tranny fluid filter problem. If it's the latter it usually happens after the vehicle sits for several hours. The transmission will engage but reluctantly and after you drive say 100' the engine/tranny will shudder and the engine stalls often with no CEL. Upon restart everthing is fine and the CEL, if you get one, will soon go away. If this happens often you can 1) service the tranny with new filters or 2) be careful when you first crankup to be sure the tranny engages correctly (what I'm doing till tranny service time rolls around) or 3) install the inline antiflowback valve (FLCV Mod - Flman check valve mod). Vibration is another issue. I have seen a fair amount of chat on vibration related to motor mounts and dry drive shaft u joints. The latter are apparently hard to ID without dropping the drive shaft. |

I'm starting to wonder if it's air in the system. Today when moving the jeep around in the drive (had to move cars and trailer), it sounded like it was going to stall out once or twice but did not. thoughts? |

I know this problem sounds like the torque converter but the EGR valve sticking open can also cause these symptoms. A sticking open EGR will cause rough or no idle. So if the torque converter does not end up being the problem you may want to look at the EGR. |

starting to think it's the EGR sticking...or air in fuel. I pulled the MAF to test the EGR... |

i had a similar problem and it turned out to be a Fuel injector seal leaking. Got that fixed and now its smooth idle again! cheers Rossow. |

Changingtime, did you check for air in the fuel head? But the end of the driveway thing is leaning more towards a leaky drain back in the tranny filter being both of mine have done the same thing. |
