Post subject: | Revelations while replacing to new metal glow plugs |
Used thread which was wonderfully helpful to "How to change your glow plugs": viewtopic.php?f=5&t=56696&p=631334&hilit=p1267#p631334 Have a couple off interesting findings: --Everything went well but man is that procedure to get to #3 plug a real bear!!!- Have fun removing that inlet/intake elbow! --I removed the battery to get more elbow room and noticed ==THE PLASTIC BASE WAS COMPLETELY CRACKED== rendering the battery to be loose even with the fastener bracket fully tightened. Battery could have easily dislodged and done some damage to other components. Proper procedure is too replace base with a junkyard part or new part. --The ECU was going to need a flash to the new metal glow plugs and Chrysler will charge lots of $$ so I went with a ECO Tune from GDE that includes the metal plugs flash and this way I go into the world of tuned ECU's and get my proper GP flash too. Everything works and NO CEL's and got that extra "ommph" to boot. I am a happy CRD guy now! PS - I have three good used ceramic Glow Plugs now. If any one still wants to do onesy twosey replacing and keeping the ceramic style and want to install a used one (since new ceramic plugs are discontinued/unavailable now) PM me. Roland |
