Anyone from the Austin TX area that can recommend someone to replace or rebuild the transmission in my 05 CRD?

Jeep Masters swapped the Torque Converter in mine (couple of years back)

so they at least know that CRD's exist

That said - the tranny is Chrysler generic - any decent shop should be able to do it.

I've taking numerous Jeeps I have owned to Jeep Masters. No complaints. They are nice guys.

Not in Austin but there is one on 290 right before you get to Dripping Springs. DC Transmission rebuilt the one in my mom's Mercedes. F5 Performance is next door and does all the work on her Mercedes. You would have to know Clearance that anyone he uses it good enough for me. He is more anal than me about if your going to do it do it right the first time. When I get ready to have my transmission done that is where I'm taking my Libby.

Yeah, DC quoted me 2400 to rebuild the transmission. I am thinking about buying a used low mileage one off ebay. I have a 545rfe in my watch list from an 07 Ram with 34k miles on it.

OR

Do a manual swap. I am been sourcing the parts for some time and will cost about the same to have the auto rebuilt. The NSG370 weighs about 90 pounds, so I will shed a couple hundred pounds.
