how about a quick idea of when (mileage) you had your timing belt changed? I'm pushing 93k and thinking about doing it before a 100k.

And if you're over a 100k and haven't, would like to know how far over.

My CRD is only at 41k miles but over on the TDI forum the general consense has been the recommended change mileage, it varies over the years, is a figure the majority of belts will last. In otherwords, some will fail before that figure and some after.
Since it's expensive to replace some believe the figure has been stretched to lessen buyer resistance when buying a new tdi.
Let us know how far yours lasts :grim:

Mileage is a poor indicator of maintenance service intervals. If you drive mostly city, you at best average 20-25mph. If you drive highway, you probably average 40mph over life of vehicle. At 100k miles, one engine will have significantly less hours then the other yet both get belts changed at same mileage. If you drive mostly highway, I'd feel comfortable stretching the interval by 10-20%.

I installed a hobbs meter on my last vehicle and commuted 60 miles each way each day. Of the 120 mile daily commute, about 8 miles was in city driving. I averaged about 42 mph average speed based on odometer/time on hobbs meter which was surprising to me.

If I recall it was around 55K miles for my wifes Libby..only because I replaced the CP3..otherwise it would have been close to the 100k mile mark
