Just got the Jeep back from the dealer (2nd warranty total rebuild of rear diff in 3K miles). After reinstalling the GDE ECU and the new GDE TCM II plus reconnecting the EHM, the engine smoothly stops on shutdown. It has NEVER done this through all the ECUs I have run from InMotion and GDE, plus SEGR. It always has stopped rather roughly and has never changed until now. It has never thrown any FCV codes. The dealer tech only worked on the rear end, as far as I know. My wife drove it home from the dealer with the OEM ECU and TCM installed and EHM not connected. So, I don't know how it acted when she shut it off upon arriving home. All I know is that after I changed it all back to the full "mod" spec, the shutdown characterics changed from the previous ones. However, it seems to run OK and the new GDE TCM "tow tune" works just as described, allowing real use of fourth gear. The EGR was obviously working while the dealer had it. Could the FCV been malfunctioning all these years (no codes) and suddenly started working? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. DOC |

DOC Easy way to tell. Open your window and shut down the engine someplace quiet. About 10-15 seconds after shutdown, you should hear the servo in the FCV actuate, opening the butterfly (the key-off triggers it to close all the way, I believe, but it's hard to hear). That's also when the sound that's like stepping on glass happens if your servo assembly has imploded and stripped itself like mine). Interestingly, even after disconnecting my FCV, my engine has never really been rough or "dieseley" on shutdown (in 66k miles and 5 years). Dan |

Well, the characteristic shudder on shutdown is back. Can't explain it. DOC |

If mine isn't Warmed Up, it won't Shake on Shutdown. When it is Warmed Up, it Shakes 100% of the Time on Shutdown. |
