Been hearing another sound (possibly from the turbo). It sounds just a little deeper than the normal turbo whine. I'm assuming it's coming from the turbo but not 100% sure. If i'm in park and rev up, I do not hear it. Only when driving... I took off the hose to the turbo and did the impeller test. Very minimal movement and the blades moved freely. Also, there is oil on the blades...wondering if a line is clogged, anyone have this issue? |

If you ask 10 different people, you will get 10 different descriptions of what a turbo is supposed to sound like. When I stopped listening to the radio during my morning commute, I noticed what sounded like a gear "whine." I thought my transmission pump or something else in the drive train was about to take a dump. Nope. That was the sound of the turbo performing normally. |

Mine sort of whistles first thing at lower speeds but either the sound goes away or my ears ignore it after about 1 mile. Been the same since I got the CRD 14,000 miles ago. |

Sounds exactly like my condition except that was 70,000 miles ago. Had 20K on it then, 90k now, still a whistle in the AM that goes away when the engine is warm. Of course, it could just be my ears ![]() |

Mine also produce a winding noice but it dimishes as engine warms up, also, i can hear it when I do jack rabit take offs but only for a couple of seconds. I had some oil at the turbine but went away with the provent filter, now everything is oil free at the turbo and air intake. |

Oil on the blades is from the stupid CCV. Do an EHM and that problem will be solved for good, along with the problem of the intake hose and boost hoses rotting out from the oil contamination. If you haven't already lost the intake hose, it is probably very weak from the oil which has a nasty habit of eating right through the rubber at the turbo inlet. |
