Hey! Just picked up an 06 CRD limited with 31k miles. I would love some tips on what to watch for, best mods etc. I will be doing a GDE eco tune. GDE informed me my liberty does not have a DPF but I was quite positive they do! Also, what size exhaust piping is best for these rigs and is straight pipe too free flowing or is it ok to do? Thanks a lot ahead of time for the replies!!

Austin

DPF's (diesel particulate filter) are a recent infliction on the long suffering diesel community; be thankful neither the 05 or 06 CRDs had or have them although I suppose that may be one reason why there are no 2007 or later Jeep CRDs sold in the US.

X2 on the NOOB guide. Regarding the exhaust; there is lots of chat on the forum but IMHO leave the pipes you have alone, the 2.5" diameter is just fine and there is no particular benefit to spending $s to going bigger. In fact the gen 2 GDE turbo kit stays with the 2.5" pipes. At most replace the existing muffler with a 2.5" one to remove that slight restriction (Flowmaster or Magnaflow #12226) are common. Put the $s you have saved toward the GDE ECU and TCM tunes.

DPF: FIRST important question is, WHERE DO YOU LIVE? It makes a big difference on finding out if you have one or not. Everyone assumes you are in the US.

Thanks for the replies. I live in Washington State. Hope that still means I do not have one!
