Post subject: | Help with CEL |
Hello, I am fairly new to this site and have been reading through some very good information but confused on what I should do. My CEL came on right before I had to go to inspection well of course they flunked it. They gave me a print out of codes P0069 Map/ Barometric Correlation - already cleaned thanks to posts P0299 Under boost Turbo - no boost issue symptoms P0401 Insufficient EGR Flow Most likely this is the issue as the vehicle is completely stock and the EGR has never been cleaned. My questions are: 1. How difficult is it to R & R the EGR valve ? 2. Are there any threads showing this procedure? I saw images of the valve but not the actual procedure. 3. What are my options are there any mods that can be performed to by pass the EGR that will not set the CEL Thanks, Scott |

According to the 2006 FSM - see Sir Sam's NOOB guide for a place to download a PDF copy P0299-BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR POSITIVE DEVIATION P0401-EGR SOLENOID CIRCUIT NEGATIVE DEVIATION Diagnostic flow says to look at the causes of the latter first. Easy parts of the diagnostic first - check for air intake blocks (dirty air filter for example) or air leaks (tear in air filter box to turbo hose down at the bottom end or leaks in the turbo>intercooler>engine hoses). Others will have more detail. The best option on EGR issues seems to be a GDE tune which pretty much deactivates it without a code and does lots of other wonderful things for performance and improved fuel economy. |
