2005 Jeep Liberty for sale. The engine and turbo are shot but the rest of the Jeep is in prestine condition. It has 112K miles on it. Make best offer. Thanks everyone.

the engine and turbo are shot... thats pretty much the diesel part of the car. essentially just a rolling liberty sport. *not trying to sound like a jerk*

I hear ya! Just wanna unload it for parts or anything else. I researched into getting it repaired and right now that just isnt in my budget which sucks. I loved that Jeep.

Jayson, can you share what happened, what were the chain of events that led to the catastrophy?

112,000 is not a very long life span.

No problem. The Jeep is located in Blackwood, NJ. I have had to replace the turbo twice since I bought the Jeep new. Not exactly sure why. But I was on my way to work one day and it started to rev oddly. I stopped at a light and went to accelerate and that is when I started to hear knocking noises coming from the engine. I stopped immeadiately and looked under the hood. I noticed oil sprayed all over the left side of the engine. I took it to the dealership and they said it would cost me approx 11K to get it fixed completely. Of course thats not in the budget. They didnt open up the engine as they said that alone would cost 500.00 to do. They assumed that I had some bent or broken rods and would need the turbo replaced. Ill be honest I brought it home and was very tempted to open it up myself with a couple friends. Someone may open it up and say, Wow this only needs "fill in the blank" and it could run again. I loved that Jeep. It was great in all types of weather and it got the family around. Would love to repair it but just cant afford it right now.

Sorry to hear about that but i would check with a local diesel mechaninc, i bet they could fix it for a lot cheaper than that.

What oil were you using and at what intervals?

I have asked around and there arent that many diesel mechanics in the area. I was using Mobil 1 0W-40 or 0W-30 dont remember which one, but the one that is called out in the owners manual at I was changing the oil anywhere between 3K and 5K miles.
