Has anyone had a problem with thier Fumoto valve? Ours is drooling just enough to make a Firestone (newbie?) mechanic tell us that the rear main seal was going out. Popped it up on their lift and there it was, covered in a bit of goo and dirt with an obvious flow pattern towards the rear of the CRD. I have not cleaned it off and observed it over a period of time to see if it is leaking at the threads or if the valve itself is leaking. Oil level was down, but I am not yet used to where "low" and "OOPS" is on the dipstick. Added 1/2 quart and now it seems to be overfull. |

Best bet in this case would be to remove the valve and clean it thoroughly while checking the threads. You may very well have dirt stuck inside preventing proper closure... |

I have had a similar experience with mine. It does not drip, but when ever I look under the Jeep, it always has fresh oil on the outside of it. I'll have to try cleaning it real good on the next oil change. |

It is a ball valve, you could try tightening the assembly of it, another words tighten around the ball. |

I had a different problem. The valve worked normally for a while then yesterday I went to change oil, 'opened' the valve and nothing came out. Kept jiggling it, still nothing. Finally I got a long toothpick and cleaned it out. It was plugged from dirt I guess. |

Thanks for the input. I'll clean it up next time we change the oil and see if I buggered something up or it is just normal "stuff". I'm gonna wash the underside of the jeep and keep an eye on it just to see how much might be leaking out. No drips on the driveway, so I don't think it is loosing much. |
