Well I am thinking of buying another crd. We sold our 05 a few years ago after horrible dealer support with the warranty. Now we live in rural PA and my wife commutes 120 miles a day to work and school... So I want a diesel 4wd that is decent on fuel. I found an 06 sport at a dealer with under 50k miles and they said they'd sell it for 14300 after I haggled... Is that fair? It has been dealer maintained with records, not that that is good, by them since new. It was a one woman owned jeep. I plan to do most work myself... I own a volvo business and do major and minor work on gas and diesel volvos So i am perfectly competent in working on the liberty. I really liked our old one... |

Personally, I wouldn't trust the CRD to get my wife to and from a 120 mile daily trip. If you were stoked about owning one for your own project/enjoyment, I'd say go for it, but my tractor has left wifey stranded more than enough times. Picture yourself trying to explain to your wife over the phone how to check turbo hoses while she's stranded on side of interstate with cars and big rigs wizzing by. If you love your wife, get her a Camry. If you just "kinda" like your wife, and really want a CRD...go for it. ![]() Oh yea

There are several folks that do 120 mile type daily trips in the CRD 1) you do have to maintain it - don't just wait until wife complains 2) the Dealerships haven't gotten any better - in fact the techs who saw the 45 min video are now gone. I think 14300 is high - i haven't look at it does depend on what available in your area - but that sounds like more than other folks are mentioning |

I over maintain everything I own, even the lawnmower haha! Yeah I think it is high too. It has 47k miles one owner who was local and all service records and there was no f37 done to it. Has plenty of power, new brakes and New Michelin tires! |

No camry for my wife. Needs to be a 4x4 suv and diesel is preferred for my own reasons. We live in rural PA and rock slides and snow is a fact of life. Her volvo 940 is no longer practical for our needs... |

my wife loves her patriot but ever since we started going to our fieldtrips on the libby she has been talking about how to get a low miles crd for her LOL...... she loves libertys, we had a 3.7 brand new in 06 and we loved it except for the fuel economy. I think we will wait untill jeep decides to bring the crd back (hoping on the wrangler)

I drive a lot of rental cars and the Camry's don't handle well in bad winter weather or heavy rain. Their front brakes suck so bad Monica Lewinsky is suing Toyota for stealing her fame. If you don't go for the CRD, consider a Fusion or Taurus. I am not a Ford guy, but the quality is light years ahead of the Camry. If you go for the CRD, get rid of the stock Goodyear tires as fast as you can, they are crap. Then pursue the Mods and upgrades. |

It has 47k, no f37, and had all maintenance records since New. Plus it has a good set of Michelin tires! I think it is the most practical thing for her and should serve her for two or three years as she will want a new car once she is done school and gets that nursing degree, lol! I am not a chrysler guy, no offense anyone, but aside from my previous crd troubles when I had my 05, I loved the thing! |

My dad drove his CRD 120 miles a day to the city 5 days a week and put 145k on it before i got it, with nothing needing changing other then the timing belt and regular oil changes. Its now at 155k lifted with tires and the works and its still perfect minus some pin stripes

With all the bad I hear about them with turbo failures, etc. I am reassured that we may get good service out of it! What oil do you run in yours? |

My wife is now running 130 miles a day for the last two months up from only 100 miles a day for the last year and hers runs on WVO. (170 mpgallon of fuel purchased). It is up for a timing belt change soon but it runs great and she loves it. I did all the recommended modification as well as the Grease conversion. The savings are staggering. I think the 06 are generally better than the 05. When an 06 came up for sale locally I traded in the PT Cruiser turbo and financed $12k so real world price could have been $14-15K that was just over a year and 25k miles ago. |

Well we picked up our new/used crd last saturday, the 6th... And love it so far! We have put about 650 miles on it, mostly rural highway driving, and using the fill to the top method, we got 25.7mpg on the last tank. It has not has the f37 done and has plenty of power. Today I changed the oil with rts t6 as I was not 100% sure what was in it. I used a mopar filter this time, and have a purolator pure one filter for the next change. I also did the orm until we have enough to buy the GDE setup and scan tool. |
