For EGT but I do not like the probe on it. It looks as if you drill a hole and use the included hose clamp to clamp it to the hole. Seriously? or should i go another route? I think I should go to plan B.

Options for mounting pyrometers besides clamping include tapping the exhaust manifold, or welding a threaded boss onto it. Drilling into the exhaust manifold could introduce metal chips which might pass through the turbo. Greasing the tap and vacuuming might keep the chips out of the manifold.
The tapped hole must be correctly sized to prevent cracks in the cast iron.

I just bought a VDO Vision pyrometer for my BMW turbodiesel Vixen. Haven't installed it yet.

I don't like the look of that clamp on type probe.

the one I put on my truck I drilled the manifold. I didn't have any problems with chips in the turbo. I didn't use a vacuum or grease..just lots of drill bits. I started at 1/8" and used every drill bit(1/64") step upto the right size for the 1/8" pipe tap. then I cranked the engine..not so much as to start it..just wanted to blow the metal shaving through the turbo.

just my 2 cents

LOl ok mabe I left a bit of info out. Yes I understand metal shavings issue, thanks. I was thinking of taking the manifold off and sending it out to have a fitting welded to it and purchasing a new probe. Since the engine will be brand new, things should be pretty clean.
