uuummmhhh... probably not

The rocker arms were designed to break first in case of piston to valve contact
and a couple of folks have replaced all 16 rocker arms.......

the probably is because Geordi said he bent some valve rods.....

none of those is a good idea - changing Timing belts correctly - is a good idea.

Nope! No bent valves on mine, the rockers all snapped exactly the way they were supposed to, when the mechanic reassembling my engine forked up the job and over-torqued the tensioner bolt... Then tried to half-ass it with a helicoil repair which is what failed.

Is this the sequel to the missing bad motor topic posted the other day? If so, what happened, and how many miles?

Neither - I would look for a mechanic in your local area that is known by the members here (if possible) or contact your local ADS shop (Association of Diesel Service is the acronym, I think) and ask them for a suggestion on who knows what they are doing with a VM Motori engine.

The ADS shops tend to be the places that do the injection pump service and turbo work... And at least for me, they are NOT a full service remove-and-replace kind of shop. You bring them the injection pump, they give it back to you fully operational and back to spec. The advantage is that they see work from EVERYBODY, so they know who can touch what you have.

The dealership (any of them) is the LAST place you ever want to take your CRD. The sum total of their "training" is a 30 minute video about ALL the new vehicles that year, and a short quiz. Would you feel comfortable with that little amount of training? Add to that, most dealer techs have NEVER seen a CRD in real life, as only about 20k of them were sold here.

I pulled the valve cover and found 13 bad rockers and 1 really bad rocker. Did your mechanic do a compression test? That is the only way, without pulling the head, to see if you have a bent valve.

Parts can be had online at wholesalemopar.com. They gave me great service, fast delivery, & great prices. Chrysler has an exclusive contract with VM Motori for the parts. So you must buy the parts from a Chrylser dealer. The online service manual here has all the info on how to fix everything. I put the manual on my laptop so I can have next to me while I work.

Where did you find the manual? I am having trouble finding it. Thanks

either sell it or replace the motor, you decide which is more economical for you.

If you decide to sell it let me know as I may be interested.
