Well after 2 weeks at the shop the Corning, NY Jeep dealer called to say I could come pick up the CRD, they would not do the timing belt change.
Thinking about going back to Maine and changing it myself.
Visited my friends long enough, time to get it done.
Suggestions?
Should I drive to Green Diesel?
Have almost 98k miles on it.

You say that like its a bad thing...

I would say do it yourself, or if you aren't confident in your abilities (It really isn't hard if you have the tools and are careful about the directions) then talk to Keith at GDE and see if he will do it for you.

Keeping your CRD away from the stealership is ALWAYS a good move.

Why should anyone trust the dealer near me with a timing belt?
If you want a good shop contact your nearest ADS member injection pump place.
They will recommend a good shop they fix pumps and injectors for.
Some ADS members have shops too.

Ok! Signed up for the Green Diesel tool. Things work out.
Finally ordered the serpentine fan belt, $100 shipped.
Have about a 3 week wait, oh well, have to ride the Sportster, poor me.

What is the ADS?
No injector problems yet.

ADS is the Association of Diesel Specialists. I called a local shop affiliated with ADS, and they were no help. Others have suggested finding a shop that works on Sprinter vans. It seems that people who find mechanics easily live in or near large population centers.

as always, YMMV

Just received a PM. Thanks.
Ahhhh, wish I had known.
Now anyone can buy one.

FYI a Gates (K061130) serpentine belt for either year CRD runs $37 on Amazon and about $58 at O'Reilly's

FastRob,

the following shop has done timing belts on our CRd with Proovrn results:

Macedon Auto Center
2309 Macedon Center Rd
Palmyra, NY 14522

(315) 597-1494 speak to Ron

He has all the right tools. Charges $600 labor, and according to Jmoomaw he did a great job on his CRD.

Thanks Racertracer.
Drove back to Maine to take care of business and replace the belt. Waiting on the Green Diesel tool.
Appreciate the lead, hopefully others will be able to use them.

There's a Chevy tech in SLC that since he's now done one, can turn 'em out quick.

Please PM me with the name of the dealership. I smell a dealership service manager who needs a heart to heart with his zone director.

The outcome is simple.

I've been shouting 'diesel!' 'diesel!' so long that nobody listens to me anymore.

Nobody listened this time either.

Found a local guy,
He did it for $500 belt & water pump.
Broke the new thermostat. I ate that.
Have been trying to get Kaz to send one.
He probably pitched them.
