Just bought an 06 CRD with 110k km, previous owner admits to having to replace the EGR once, I'd like to get ahead of it. After reading a bit on here I am def going to invest in the ECO Tune and I thought the provent solution looked like a good investment as well, but where do you get it? Is there a kit or does everyone just improvise with their own parts? Apologies if it's a dumb Q, I am a newb - but eager to learn!

The provent is an independent mod and will not effect tune either way. We opted for the Samco boost hoses that will not degrade from oil contamination. We also replaced the clean air duct (where the CCV dumps just prior to turbo inlet) at 80k as it failed due to oil pooling at turbo inlet. |

Keeping the oil mist out of your intake with a good oil separator reduces the likely hood of coking or gooing up the intake. EGR + Oil mist in intake = coked up intake. Wax in the oil can cause the Provent filter to clog up in cold weather. I know members who use Rotela T-6 synthetic or Amsoil and do not seam to have the wax clog up problem, there may be other oils that don't wax up and clog the Provent filter. |

I bought mine from reliable for 140 shipped, they are a good company. I think the link above for the install is a great idea. After seeing my stock OEM hoses, I didn't want to have my SAMCO's get close so I installed the Provent after 75k miles of not having one. Good luck! |

ordered my provent today. been reading the provent installation related threads on here and just wondering if there is a consensus on what type of hosing and reducers work best over time (noticed some reports about certain material breaking down from the oil)? thanks for any input. |

Hydraulic is the best, but most expensive and hard to find. I could NOT find any emissions hose in the right diameter at NAPA or autopart stores. I personally went with fuel hose, has a Temp rating that will last, and will not corrode. The only down side is that it doesn't have anything to prevent kinking. The reinforced nylon hose from hardware hose is cheap, but will ruin over time from heat. Heater hose will not stand up to the oil residue. For the reducers, I think a 1" ID hose is best (The nylon hose from hardware store would work here), but next would be the copper reducers. |

First time around I used the braided Tygon tubing and it failed with the heat and oil vapor. Motion Industries sells the 3/4" /19mm hydraulic low pressure return line. It is not cheap and since I don't want to insult any physicians who practice internal medicine  , I will not call them @$$#oles, even though they act it, but they have it. I used it and it works great and you need more than your hands to kink it. |

I used heater hose it was all I could get local. It's holding up but the ccv to provent hose is starting to show swelling. It's cheap I will just replace it soon |

Their web site says Napa should carry it, but I didn't have any luck, My napa had some red colored hose but only one 4ft section left, so I went with the fuel hose. |

I'm giving some of the silicon heater hose from boostcontroller.com a try, one of the vendors that also sells Samco boost hoses for our beast. Only been on for a couple months, but so far seems to be holding up well. T'ain't cheap, but I was getting tired of replacing heater hose every year or so. Nylon hose connectors from Tractor Supply or hardware store hold up well, still using the original fittings after 4 years. A 3/4" male pipe to 3/4" hose barb nylon adapter works well reducing down from 1" to 3/4" hose. |

The 1"id hose also fits right over the 3/4" ID hose, so you can just leave out the reducer all together. 3/4" ID has ~1" OD, still need two hose clamps though. |
