I am ready to buy the euro TC in order to get ready for GDE Hot tune. For some reason I cannot find the TC for sale anywhere. How much is it? Where are some options to buy it at? Anything else I should buy/replace while the TC is being replaced?

Thanks a lot.

It's a little hard to find mostly because many of the online sites are hard to navigate but assuming the correct part # is 68037142AA then http://www.wholesalemopar.com/parts_catalog.html ; http://factorymoparparts.com/68037142aa.html ; and http://oemmoparonline.com/catalog/produ ... s_id=88033 all appear to have it and I suspect others do too. I'd recomend calling to make sure.

I haven't done this yet but will when I get the GDE turbo so I cannot speak from experience but I have seen some chat about replacing a pump while you are in there but don't offhand have the part #.

I appreciate the reply. The sites do seem unnecessarily difficult to navigate and figure out just exactly what you're looking at! I am "happy" to know the price is around the $300 range...

Papaindigo,

Thanks for this information. I can't decide between the Suncoast and the Euro TC. I'm leaning towards the Suncoast. I'm getting the Full Torque Eco Tune from GDE as I write. I may also get the Hot Tune at some point in the future.

Any insight on the better convertor?

From what I understand the euro TC is up to the job of coping with the added power of the hot tune. I'm going with the hot tune and euro TC myself. Will have it in a few months hopefully and will share my thoughts!

I've also heard that the Euro TC is up to the job, but I wonder how much better the Suncoast is? I don't just want a torque converter that is "adequate", I want one that will perform wonderfully while towing my snowmobiles in the Sierras.

Heck, this is a diesel and I'm going to treat it like one and if it can't hold up, I'll jump to an Excursion.

What about right in between with the grand Cherokee?? Excursion is a monster! I agree, however, I want what will withstand all the abuse i may put it through.

Anyone else no of good places to order euro tc?

I actually called Suncoast and asked how much torque the convertor can handle. His answer was interesting. He (and I don't remember his name) stated that their convertors for the Liberty can handle up to 700 hp and that he was unsure how much torque that would equate too. ??? Anyways, I've never heard anything bad about Suncoast and I'm frequently around people who beat the snot out of their trucks, i.e. Dodges with the 5.9 Cummins, Chevrolets with the Duramax 6.6 Liter. These guys are HARD on the equipment and so are their friends who also own diesel trucks. If Suncoast was failing, they would know.

I'm going with a Suncoast.

I cannot offer any personal insight but I've got to make a decision on one or the other when I get the GDE turbo. The Euro is supposed to be ok and it's certainly cheaper than the Suncoast. I was leaning toward Suncoast, 2.5 hrs away, but they don't do installs. Decisions decisions.

Papaindigo, I'm with you seeing as how these diesels are an addiction (no matter how big or small) and I foresee myself continually adding power to this CRD during my ownership which means I am also leaning towards the Suncoast. Being as how the Suncoast comes with a billet cover and I'm hoping even stronger internals than the Euro TC. I know the Suncoast costs more upfront, but it only takes 1 failure with the Mopar TC to offset the expenses of the install since I won't be doing it myself. Just some food for thought. As soon as I talk to Ron at Suncoast and clear up all the qwerky responses I've heard from his salesmen, then I'll probably go with their torque converter and the Transgo kit as well. I hope this works out good for those of us going this route.

Horsepower= (Torque * RPM)/5252
Torque= (Horsepower * 5252)/ RPM

assuming a 2000 rpm torque peak - 700 hp = 1838 ft/lbs (although most of the 700 hp engines are not in 2000 rpm range, 4000 would make it 919 which sounds closer)
