Post subject:  Need help with updated Mopar part numbers

I am going to be picking up my new-to-me 2005 Jeep Liberty CRD tomorrow and I wanted to get it updated with the new fuel filter and Euro-spec TC. I was given these numbers:

Pig Tail for fuel filter- 68043086AB Fuel Filter- 52129238AA Torque Converter- RL037142AA

Can someone please help me verify these numbers? Who would you recommend buying these from? Moparpartsonline.com has them if these are the right numbers, but I have no experience with them. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are you sure that your CRD doesn't already have them?

Have you checked the fuel head at least?

Can you locate the previous owner and ask if the torque converter and pump was replaced?

Check area dealers service department for records on your vehicle to see if any of those repairs were done already.

I'll check it all tomorrow when I pick it up. I'm having it shippped in from Texas and it's coming from a dealership and not the PO, but I did call about the timing belt and they said there was no records of it being done, so I'm having it replaced next week. I just want to get a head of everything so that I don't run into any problems later. Thanks for the response.

The new fuel head is easy to ID. The 2 power plugs should be essentially equal in size and the driver's side one is likely a bright blue which comes with the new pigtail. If the driver's side plug is noticably smaller than the passenger side one then you have a 1st gen fuel head the will need replacing. To replace you need both the new head, comes with a filter installed, and the pigtail. Check around on prices as they do vary a bit.

No need to spend the bucks on a Mopar fuel or oil filter after market is fine. I prefer WIX. WIX 33647 for fuel filter and either Wix 51516 or Wix 51515, full oil fill with the former is 6.3 qts vs. 7 qts for the latter so I'd go with the latter. (FYI the oil dip stick marks tend to be off such that if you fill to the dip stick full line you have overfilled and the excess will blow out thru the CCV which is not good)

Other than that if you have not already done so read Sir Sams NOOB guide.

Thanks papaindigo! I didn't notice the bright blue, but I did disconnect them and they were pretty much the same size. As it turns out, I think the previous owner did take pretty good care of the Liberty because all the filters were Mopar and he even had a Fumoto valve on there, which made my first oil change a snap tonight. The down side is that the tranny is shuddering a lot which means it needs some serious attention. I was already planning on a new TC, but now I'm thinking it may be more. It's gonna hurt because I also need to do the 100k mile service which is quite spendy. It's a good thing that I got a decent deal on this CRD.

Most shuddering on CRD's has been the torque converter lockup clutch

Joe, I kind of figured that's what it was since these rigs are notorious for having bad TC's. I'll be replacing mine with either a Euro Spec TC or a Suncoast TC. I'll probably go with the Euro spec just because it costs less. If I could find a part number for the tranny pump, I would replace that at the same time.

Does anyone know the Mopar number for the tranny pump? Thanks.

use the part # from the f37 recall
recall parts always cheaper
gets you new pump seals, filters, and new ac condeser/tranny cooler.
