Well I bit the bullet and purchased a set of Miller tools. even if just one of these tools comes in handy some day, it will pay for itself.

Congrats!

I had mine on the shelf for years and finally started putting them to good use this year, there are lots of really cool tools in there for the engine, the locking pins and camshaft gear holders for one, but also all the either stuff, compression tester adapter, dial guage to measure cylinder sleeve protrosion, etc etc.

I also have the grand cherokee 3L tools sitting around here, but I'm not sure I will ever use them, and they only take up two boxes.

Now I gotta get off my butt and take photos off all the tools and post them in a guide before you can beat me to it.

nice..
I wish I had the ones for the timing belt..
keep the gears from moving isn't hard..I used a wooded screw clamp..I also marked the gears and didn't loosen the nuts.

that's good until I need to remove the gears. doesn't replacing the water pump require the gear removal? If my wife owns her Jeep long enough it'll need a new water pump..it got the timing belt early..so I have 70Kmiles before I have to worry about that..
but what else??

have you thought about renting out the tools?

Yes I have .... and offering them reasonably to members.

Getting them returned damaged is what I would worry about though. Not sure how to cover for that.

Exactly the same fear I have, and why I would be happy to rent out my Miller tools... With ME alongside them to assist in the wrenching. I'm too paranoid to let them out of my sight. You got a GREAT deal on that set Racer. First time you use them, they will pay for themselves, EASILY.

Dkenny - I think I'm about the same distance south of you now as I was North of you when you bought that pump off me. The cam gears are supposed to come off for the water pump job, and I'm not looking forward to that job either. Maybe we can collaborate on that job when the time comes.

Just ask for a security deposit! Check how much cost the same brand new tool they want to rent, if for any raison they damage or return your tool in bad shape you keep the deposit and pay yourself a new one from Miller! Song fair to me. :D

If you ever find another set for a fair price like yours Please PM me so we can get a "renter" on this side of the fence for Canadian fellow. Shipping renting tool from US to Canada may give headache to custom officers...

Yup, thats my same dilemma, too much $$$ in those tools to rent them out without a BIG deposit.

Congrats on you purchase, that's a good deal. I have never regretted buying mine, even at the price of $550 with shipping.
Any self reliant CRD owner should not be without a set. 8)

You are right about Canadian Customs. The Sprocket holding tool would be a Nuke in their mind :banghead: and the holding pins detonators :banghead: . The tensioner wrench would be considered an arming device :banghead: .
Better buy them and have them shipped to your Union Hall so they don't try to make the tools have to pay Canadian Income tax :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

Dont care since your charged the price of a brand new one with shipping in security deposit, you found another deal or order direct from the tool maker  The scammer get scamed if he tries to scr...you.

I have no problem renting them if I can convince Ebay's sellers to send them to me... (You'r wright Warp about those bone heads...)

These are not every day use tools like wrench , screwdrivers, sockets.... And they are not easy to damage like a DBR III electronic Scan tool!

There is another solution....replicate them! Using a GOOD milling and a GOOD lathe you can achieve this and make money out of it...Any volonteers?

Warp do you thinking what I'm thinking  Katching! LMAO

Since you mentioned it...

Would anyone be willing to take measurements?

Would you be willing to loan them just to measure?

I have been searching e-bay for the longest, but I am always just a bit too late :(

Measurements of the cam lock pins......oh my what a great idea! I ought to whip up a little drawing that anyone could take to a machinist and get some made......

I'm detecting sarcasm...

BTW: getting the tools copied from the originals is a nice idea in theory... Except these are COMMERCIALLY PRODUCED and as such, will be protected under copyright and possibly patent. I don't think a fabrication shop is going to want to annoy Miller Tools by copying their designs.

Posting pictures or drawings with dimensions isn't a crime.

I don't see no patent numbers on them pins.
