As you all know my CRD is at the dealer waiting on a new cylinder head and head gasket.

Well, while it’s in the shop, I have been riding around in my 97 Jeep Sahara. I forgot how much fun i had in this jeep. Did I say I love this Jeep?

It’s just a fun little 4X4 that's made for the thick woods and rocky sandy beaches of CT. I just don't know which vehicle I like best and with the top down this time of year it makes for a pleasurable way to sight see. If it had a diesel in it I would be all the more happy.

Anybody know of one with a CRD in it?

I think that I may be going through a mid life crises becasue I'm also considering another vehicle, a 1983 fiat 124 Spider convertible.

I need more space.

Well, the jury is still out on this one, I will be speaking to the mechanic about it soon and report back.

Maybe its time to undertake a diesel conversion on the TJ?

I've read about 4BT's being the engine of choice for a swap and I'm entertaining the idea.
But the gasoline engine runs great even though it has over 300k miles on it. Besides it's a big expense that I can't justify, except that life is too short and just do it for the fun of it and it would be time consuming to install.

I would consider selling it and buying one already assembled to eliminate headaches.

Darn, you should have waited for the Miller tools and did it your self?

LOL, yeah right with a little practice.

Although I have taken a few engines apart and put back together in the past. Amazingly they fired up.

It's hard to beat the 4L, simple, torque, parts are abundant and cheap, easy to work on. I gotta say, I love working on XJs because they are so cheap and easy to work on.

Very cheap, today I decided to work on her; something I had neglected to do for a while.

Changed the Oil and filter, replaced the water pump ($29.00 at NAPA), replaced the thermostat ($5.00), replaced the radiator cap, flushed the cooling system, replaved a heater hose, cleaned the throttle body, replaced the plugs, cap, rotor, air filter and now she's good to go for another few thousand miles or more.

Gave her a wash too, the tops off and ready for Blue fishing later.

Not only that, but a jasper remaned engine is less than a head for our CRD.

Grrrrrrr huh?

I'm putting a radiator in my \XJ today. I had my choice of two, $110 and $220, I got her the better copper and brass one :SOMBRERO:
Biggest problem with parts for a XJ is making sure they sell me CHEROKEE parts instead of GRAND... :JEEPIN:

No kidding, it pisses me off to no end when grand cherokee people call it a cherokee. I've placed so many parts orders in my life that when I have to answer the question of the parts guy asking "grand cherokee or regular cherokee?" I loose a little bit of my life.

Pet peeves man.
