So, my engine mounts just got replaced & that pesky ratting sound is gone. Super stoked about that, let me tell you. :D :D :D

However, my mechanic added a quart of 10W-30 synth blend to top the engine oil off, not realizing that I had put 5W-40 full synth in.

How bad is it to mix oils like this? Can I wait another 1,000 miles 'till the next scheduled change or should I drain and replace immediately?

Wait, it's not going to hurt a thing.

Yeah, if he was going by the dipstick, the reading was in error anyway and the engine consumed and blew it out the back end. Its not something you want to make a habit of but its OK for a one-time deal. Next time you change it, add exactly the 6.4-(6.5 quarts in reality, I'm not that anal  ) and check you dipstick, it should read low after running and re-checking. This is the actual full level on the dipstick.

Good luck,
Boilermaker2

Or you can switch to a larger oil filter like the WIX 51515 and add an even 7qts. for a full fill.

I didn't know of this filter, I might try one.

How much larger is the Wix filter? The oil filter is in a vulnerable spot.

I use the mobil 1 301 oil filter. I also fill up with 7qts.

The OEM equivalent WIX filter is 51516 and the oversize WIX is 51515. The difference is size appears to be 0.35" more height and ca. 0.75" in diameter per the WIX site (I have not looked at the 2 side by side). Just a bit taller and fatter but not enough to matter with respect to clearance and I believe stoutdog indicated it was still well covered behind the skid.
