Hi,

I just completed a big roadtrip this weekend all over BC, about 1,300 km total. Finally after the mechanical problems of last few weeks, the Jeep ran like a top. So smooth.

Anyways, I thought I would try the ORM modification. I did it just before I left. Like others I did find the following:

- Engine is noisier
- Engine feels peppier, with more power
- The black smoke that we typically leave behind when we pin the accelerator is now almost all gone. Very cool
- Also noticed, that on average, my temp gauge seemed to be running a little lower

However, when I got to gas station to fill up, I noticed my mileage had gone down to 23.1 MPG. So I drove another 600 km and refuelled for the same result, about 23.4 MPG. Just for fun, I decided to reconnect the MAF for my drive home. This time, with same type of cruise control driving, in same weather conditions, at same speed, I was back up to 24.9 MPG.

This is still lower than my maiden trip when I picked it up and I got 29.6 MPG on 500 km trip (unless I had somehow miscalculated).

I am posting this since I do seem to be reading that ORM is supposed to increase your fuel efficiency. In my case, it clearly reduced it. Any opinions on why this may be the case? I have not cleaned my MAP yet, will do this week. As always, thanks for all the insight.

Cheers

More pep, more force on the accelerator = lower fuel economy.
Last year when I was going through Radar Hell between Evansville, IN and Aurora, IL and had to drive 60MPH or less most of the way, I got 34 MPG with my Inmotion Stage 2 tune running ORM.

Its your right foot, your MAP, air filter, or a poor batch of fuel your station & you got stuck with, not ORM.

I agree.... Easy on that skinny pedal. However that is a significant difference. Get that MAP cleaned ASAP and I clean my airfilter twice per oil change (k&n). The diesel takes a full gulp of air at all speeds and needs a clean filter to do so. At 8k an oil change (recommended per GDE with his tune) I think that's a little long for the air filter.
