Any tips on glow plug removal to keep the ceramic from breaking off? Getting ready to put some metal tip plugs in.

Break loose with wrench (gentle) and then use fuel hose 1-2ft. In length. Push hose over end of the plug. It will have enough grip to loosen plug and then pull out without dropping. Use same procedure to put back in, the hose will pop off with a slight tug. #3 is a pain to get to. Don't plug in new wiring harness until you reflash.

Don't know if a bit of penetrating lube lik PB Blaster might help but it's a thought. Also check out the thread on removal at viewtopic.php?f=5&t=56696&p=630729&hilit=GLOW+removal#p630729

I'm about to do the same with mine too, looks like I get to try a new adventure in the engine bay.

didn't someone mention trying to do them while the engine still a bit warm
- at least the initial breaking it loose?

(I kinda remember reading it but don't remember where)

Good luck getting to them while the engine is still warm. It took me a long time to get to the #3 plug. Just take your time and it shouldn't be a problem. I had no issues with the plugs breaking loose and mine had 90k on them with #2 plug throwing a cell.
