Well I finally got my Jeep back after having the turbo and timing belt done under warranty through the dealer I bought it from(I cant believe I actually got it done, lol) So now its time for my first oil change. What is the best filter out there??? I have seen issues with the Mopar filters so they are out, I have seen 2 different part numbers for Mobil 1 filters(m1-301 and m1-221) and K&N makes a filter. Whats the best filter out there. I will also be using Rotella T6 5w40...................any concerns with that, I run T6 in my Cummins and its happy, lol. |

I love my napa golds, been using them for over 5 years on my cummins and a year on the picky jeep with no issues at all. I go 5k miles before changing either vehicle. Kyle |

I don't want to steal the thread, but thought it appropriate to ask since we're talking about oil filters - does anyone know the correct Mobil1 filter for a 2002 2.5CRD? I'm heading to the States in a couple weeks and want to pick up a few since they're so much cheaper there (and only low-quality ones seem to be available here). Is it the same as the 2.8 or were they different? Thanks! |

For the 05/06 models I like WIX 51516 with 6.3 qts for the fill or Wix 51515 with 7 qts for the fill; been using WIX filters for decades on gas and diesel vehicles and never had a problem. Word is that the full mark on the oil dipstick is too high so that it encourages and overfill which just blows out the CCV into the turbo and associated hoses. |

Amsoil EA-034, AMO-EA 10W-40 (Screw the AHH's I want the Zinc in my oil) I used to use WIX 51516 when I ran Rotela T-6 5W-40. |

I changed oil in a VW 2.5l 5 cylinder with a Mobil 1 filter. This is just a replaceable element, no metal case. It was all deformed and kind of collapsed on itself. I picked it up a day or two later to show a customer and noticed a hole in it. Also noticed it was made in China. |

+1 on the Wix 51515. I've also been changing my air filter with the WIX brand each oil change (6250 miles). Sometimes it's dirtier than others, but it always looks dirtier than my gas engine's air filter does after 20k miles. These engines move some air. |

CRD Joe wrote: Amsoil Ea034. Best filters in the world. Thanks Joe! How much are the AMSOIL filters? I get my 2 cycle boat oil from my local AMSOIL dealer and could check with him for filters. However the WIX is easy to get and around $6 |

I used the Mopar oil filters for 6 years. No problems except the first winter I didn't use a filter wrench on the new filter I installed and when I started it on a below zero morning it blew the seal out. CRD's have some serious oil psi when cold. |

I`ve been using, and will continue to use K&N on a 408 STROKER I race,( going on 12 yrs. ) along with the wife`s Turbo PT, as well as my 2010 Liberty Ltd. They work well, and simply put. . . I`d rather turn a nut than Ever have to fiddle with any type of strap wrench/case end wrench : - / Barretta ! |
