There is company out here in Nevada that is producing natural gas infused diesel fuel. They claim it is the most clean burning diesel on the market today. And since it burns cleaner it supposedly also burns more efficiently ie more mpgs. Some of their test vehicles mostly heavy machinery and a few humvees have been getting 1 to 4 more mpgs. Wondering if anyone out there has put this in their Liberty or any other diesel vehicle. Here is their website.

That is neat. Would like to try it in my bigger diesels.

Looks like it is synthetic fuel made from Methane (Natural Gas).
Synthetic fuel and oils have all of the carbon chains the same like clones instead of having a blend of various carbon chains that kinda approximate the desired results.
Like synthetic oils, synthetic fuels could be ideal as long as they get it right.
The only thing that comes to mind for diesels would be if they produced pure Cetaine it would destroy glow plugs, head gaskets, pistons, and cylinder heads unless the timing was adjusted for pure Cetaine.
I would bet they blend Cetaine and another synthetic carbon chain to get the ideal Cetaine percentage. Since they have a head start and producing a synthetic product, I am sure they blend for the best results.
In my opinion, they should get a tax break instead of handing it ff to Ethanol which is crap for most gaser engines.

Where are the test results? All I found on their website are anecdotes by the inventor and a few local fleet operators.

This Motor Trend article http://m.motortrend.com/features/consumer/1109_gdiesel_breathrough_diesel_fuel/index.html is also short on evidence and long on green hype.

The process of making diesel fuel from natural gas has been around since the 1930's. Its called the Fischer-Tropsch Process and was developed in Germany. I'm glad someone is finding it economically feasible to use it commercially. There is so much more natural gas than oil. Check out link below for more info.

Gunnermann is not making diesel from natural gas. He's making snake oil. See above link if you need proof of Herr Doctor's illustrious career in selling various forms of this product.

Looks like the best liars blend in a lot of facts in their scams. Reminds me of the California Company who was trying to make and sell Glass tube Solar Collectors and got 1/2 a billion from the Feds, then filed for Bankruptcy.
Those of us who have lots of stuff to get done tend to give some the benefit of the doubt until they start to ask for our money, then the flag goes up.
When I see on the side of the Pump, " Contains Synthetic Diesel Fuel Made From Natural Gas, 55 Cetaine", I will consider buying some. If some scam artist wants me to invest my money, I won't be the first to jump on.
Gunnermann's Snake oil may only be Symbolic Snake Oil with no substance :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

Oh boy... The snake oil debate might start.

People sure can get crazy with our diesels........

Snake oil = Sketchy

There's no independent test data referenced which substantiates any of the imputed benefits of Gunnerman's process. This is an obvious alarm bell that snake oil is on offer.

There was a discussion on the TDI Club Forum about this. Here's a good comment in the thread:

"I was considering a test of Gdiesel, I intended to mock up a petroleum diesel tank and a clean tank of Gdiesel to a diesel generator under steady load near peak HP and measure fuel flow at a steady power output.

I have since corresponded with users that made some extraordinary claims about this stuff only to find that "Dr" Gunnerman has employed some cheerleaders to do his dirty work for him.

I've come to the conclusion that the guy is simply buying diesel fuel at volume discount, and selling diesel fuel at retail, while claiming to have injected some hocus pocus at his "factory" through a "4 stage catalyst" and somehow chemically altering the length of the hydrocarbon molecule making it produce more power, in direct violation of the second law of thermodynamics. "

Unfortunately most of these internet specials are all hype and can be very damaging to your engine over time.

Snake oil = let's add some kerosine, oh wait gasoline, oh wait motor oil..... And if u get it juuuuuust right you'll get 2 mpg better........ Sketchy

I'm a alternative fuel freak and the only fuel that has been proven over time with good results is biodiesel. It certainly isn't us Americans paving the way on the biodiesel front but the fellas across the pond. We r playing catchup..... My CRd has eaten b5-b20 the bulk of it's life and running like a champ.

I understand that GTL diesel is a real process and an alternative to distilled liquid petroleum. Shell was building some sort of GTL conversion facility in Qatar or some other s***hole in the Middle East at some point. Don't know at what price of oil the economics of GTL work out. My suspicion is that Big Oil and American auto manufacturers have colluded to involve the EPA in a program to limit the possibility of serious competition from European diesel passenger cars/trucks in the US market and it wouldn't matter what the real economics or environmental benefits are from GTL or other alternative diesel fuels. Throw in the subsidized Midwestern corn producers who love ethanol and the fact that some backwards hick state like Iowa gets a disproportionate say in presidential politics and the picture turns even uglier.

Your tinfoil is showing...

The problem is, you are most likely right, and I believe much of what you suggest as well. Our wonderful civic-minded fruitbats at Exxon want everyone to think warm fuzzy thoughts about them, not focus on their huge profits. As they even said (I'll look for the link) "when oil prices are high... Oil profits rise" and "we buy oil to refine on the open market" which is correct. In the next breath however, they AGAIN advocate opening MORE land to oil drilling in this country. They ALREADY HAVE thousands of acres that they aren't developing... And what difference does it make when every DROP that gets pulled, NO MATTER FROM WHERE... Goes into the "open market" that is CONTROLLED BY OPEC!

We could never drill enough domestically to supply our own needs. But assuming for just a second that we could (or that the Canadian Oil Sands are NOT being piped to HOUSTON to be loaded onto ships heading to EUROPE)... The concept of buying the product on the open market ELIMINATES any chance of more domestic drilling from solving the problem!

We are being OPENLY LIED TO by the oil companies, and it amazes me that people can't see it for what it is.

edit: Here's the link I was talking about, from Exxon's earnings report: http://www.exxonmobilperspectives.com/2011/04/28/exxonmobil-earnings-the-real-story-you-wont-hear-in-washington/

I've been running this G-diesel consecutively in my Ford 6L for the last 6 months or so and I've noticed a huge change in my fuel economy, not to mention my truck feels a bit more powerful. I was sketchy at first until a few locals told me about the mileage increases they were noticing, so I decided to try it for myself. The majority of my tanks have been 19+mpg on the highway and I've seen as high as 21.5mpg (all hand calculated). Now I did just buy my Jeep Liberty, but I will be running this G-diesel in it to see how it does. It is only made about 45 miles away and it is being sold at a big chain gas station locally. I'll keep you informed how the CRD runs on it. Snake oil or not, it's been good to me thus far.
