New Owner of a 2006 CRD, GDE and TC questions

Hello,

I have been looking into GDE tunes for the past couple of months trying to decide what route I should go.

My first question is: Whats the Difference between TCM and ECU tuning? I haven't been able to even find the TCM tune information on GDE, so I'm wondering if it is available still.

Secondly, If I were to go with the HOT tune, would the OEM (Euro/Newer) TC be enough to handle the extra power?

Also, as I see many people having multiple trucks with each tune, whats the difference in the ride between ECO and HOT? My main goal is to pump as much MPG out of this truck as possible, while not lowering its reliability, (and eventually to off-road somewhere with it, living in Southern IL, not sure of any local spots I can do this at)

Any other suggestions to accomplish this goal would be greatly appreciated!

TCM is Transmission control
ECU is Engine control

TCM flash is available (further down the menu)
- and fixes the F37 detune that Chrysler pushed.

GDE is running the Hot tune on a Euro TC - check with them but sounds like no problem.

on cruise control - Eco and Hot will get the same mileage - however normally Hot responds faster to throttle movement - and at the top end - uses a lot more fuel to general a lot more power...

Eco will probably do what you want. (and a OME lift, 245/75/16 tires - and the LOST Midwest folks -they have some playgrounds around there)

I don't know much about tires, although I was planning on upgrading them. Would larger tires be better? or is that mainly for show?

Also need to get skids, etc, I want this KJ to last!

Larger tires will help with clearance, plus it looks good :JEEPIN:

GDE response to: will stock converter handle ECO full torque tune.....

"The stock torque converter has a 300 ft*lb capacity lock-up clutch. Our base ECO tune limits torque to 270 during lock-up and the full torque ECO can produce 335. This is over the limit, but most customers never operate at this load for an extended period (unless towing a lot). If you use a higher torque tune and experience "shudder", just go full throttle to get a downshift and out of the critical rpm range for shudder or just let off the pedal a bit to reduce torque to below the shudder threshold. We drove our KJ CRD with shudder for almost a year before upgrading the torque converter."

I think with the hot tune you are pushing torque around 360ft/lb..... so I'm guessing that would be a problem for the TC.

I love the ECO tune and have had zero issues.

I was planning on upgrading the TC to the newer Euro mopar one, my main question with that was if the Hot! tune would work properly on this TC, or if it was made for the Suncoast, thanks though!

I'm perfectly happy with the "Full torque Eco" tune and prior to the Euro TC was installed I had their just "Eco" tune.

Check out the OHV park at land between the lakes. I did the loop with my liberty and the only thing that wasn't stock were my tires.

There was a hill there that was so steep I thought I was going to flip over. Pretty scary but I had no problems.

GDE hot tune will work on the euro TC. That is what GDE tested it on.
