Question: Emissions items are covered for 100,000 miles or more on some vehicles. Is that the case on our KJ's? I am out of the extended warranty due to time not miles. Or is this a TSB item?

I doubt the fuel head is considered part of the emissions system. There is a TSB out on it but unless yours failed while under warranty I doubt you can get a free TSB replacement although if you have a REALLY good relation with the dealer it's worth a try. If not it's an easy DIY project and the head, with filter installed, and wiring pigtail are only like $100-125 mail order.

On previous vehicles I have owned the fuel system was considered part of the emissions system as that system has a direct effect on emissions. But we are talking Chrysler here so probably no help from them. I will change it myself if needed. Probably install the in tank pump at the same time.Does anybody know the number for the TSB?

TSB 18-011-09 APR 09 I think. Check the fuel head bleeding video on Sir Sam's NOOB guide for the part #s for the 2 gen fuel head and wiring pigtail.

My wrangler is at stealership right now for a blown cat. My understanding is only the exhaust portion is covered and its 8yr/80k miles.

Stealership does not warranty the new fuel head.

The 8/80 federal emission warranty only covers the cats(and only the cats,no O2 sensors) and some states it also covers the PCM and that is it for any make or model and not just Chrysler.Everything else is only covered under the 3/36 warranty or paid out of pocket.

Yeah the O2 sensors are definitely not covered. I tried wheeling and dealing for a free O2 sensor that was downstream of the cat that had completely blown out and trashed the O2 sensor. It was a negative on free replacement.

Yeah the only reason that the cats(and in some states the PCM) are covered for 8/80 is Uncle Sam foots the bill for the replacement and not the auto maker and Uncle Sam will not pay for any other part even if the cat was the cause of the other parts failure.

even if you have the bumper to bumper extended warranty
the deductible is $100 - the cost of buying the fuel head with filter and shipping is ~ $110

it takes less time to install it than to drive to the dealership......

so at that point - who cares.

Not a bad price but not an outstanding price either. The part # is for a 2n gen fuel head and looking at an enlarged view it has the large fuel heater plug receptical so it looks legit other than the ad incorrectly claims it's for all Liberty engines. However, one would also need to get the wiring pigtail in order to hook up to the new fuel heater.
