Anyone ever attempt a rebuild of our turbo? Doesn't look too bad would like to have a schematic though. Any ideas would be helpful at this point. $144 rather than the cost of a turbo if the kit works well is great. |

Didn't someone say parts were unobtainable for this turbo? A Garret employee? Where did you get parts from? |

Multiple Garrett employees as well as Garrett dealers have said that they do NOT make a rebuild kit for our turbos. I don't know what you bought, but it isn't made by Garrett. Where'd you find it? Got a link to the parts kit so we can look it over? |

Got the kit from M&D Distributors out of Houston,tx Kit is made by Turbo International 7-A-3017 kit universal Garrett gt 15/25 which the tech there said they use to rebuild this turbo. Kit has seals bolts pistons, washers, pins etc all used in Garrett turbos so hopefully this is the right kit. To tell the truth I sure would like to call GDE and, order a stage 2 turbo kit about now instead though. |

Hey, I'm right there with you on that one. I'm running on borrowed time on a weak turbo, so I have two choices: Dig this one out and replace it with my OTHER failed turbo that I use this unknown rebuild kit with, and maybe get myself 6 months of usable turbo... Or try and hold out until November / December for both cooler weather and one of GDE's kits. I just don't want to have to dig into that area of the engine twice, it really is a pain in the arse job... But at the same time, bad turbo = failure waiting to happen = possible loss of engine. I can't take that risk. |

Quote: 7-A-3017 kit universal Garrett The dreaded "universal" word. "Universal" in shop talk means it doesn't fit anything just right. |

Wobbly, thanks for the link to that BAE kit. I just ordered that one for my confirmed-borked turbo cartridge, that is a low enough cost that I'm willing to take a gamble that it will return that blown turbo to service. Hopefully it at least lasts long enough that I can get to the GDE kit (and have the money for that too) |
