I've had a Digi CR module from Diesel Tuning, set to the 'C' setting, installed in my 2006 CRD for over 60,000 miles now. Up until now it has never given me any problems. I've never had the vehicle go into the limp home mode or had any codes that could be attributed to the module. The other day, after making a 100 mile trip, I went back out to run an errand and the truck cranked for a long time, even though it was still warm (it was 45 degrees outside). It finally started, but sounded like it was not running on all cylinders. The check engine light came on and when I read the code, it told me that the rail pressure was low. I removed the module and it started right up and ran normally. I cleared the code and it didn't come back.

After removing it I looked at the connections and found that the 9 pin connector (dsub) at the module had some corrosion, so I used some contact cleaner and added some dielectric grease to eliminate that as an issue.

I emailed Dieseltuning and they said that it's normal to have this happen (low fuel pressure, rough running) from time to time and that I should back it down 2 settings and try it again. I found this odd, since I've been running it on the same setting for over 60,000 miles (over 5 years) without an issue, but I tried it anyways by reinstalling it with a setting of 'A' and got the same hard starting rough running issues that set a code. I'm starting to believe that the module has malfunctioned, but since it only has a 3 year warranty I'm out of luck if it did go bad. That's pretty disappointing for a module that cost me over $600 new.

Has anyone else had any issues with one of these modules causing issues after having it installed for years? I see that they've redesigned the modules with a sealed automotive connector on the module instead of the 9 pin dsub connector that I have on mine. Do you suppose that the corrosion has made it inside the module, since this is not a sealed connector? I guess if there is no chance that they will replace it I can open it up and see if there is anything that can be done to fix it.

Welcome to lost.

Most but not all wanting improved preformance have gone with ECM tunes

GDE is the most popular vendor that offers 3 tunes and a upgraded turbo that has a worth tune. Their tunes have other features like improved fuel gauge reading

Can't tell you why your fooler box failed if it has :dizzy:

The Digi CR was mentioned a few years back - but all of the modules have dropped out of favor since Inmotion and GDE have been able to map the ECU instead of just fool the sensors.

you can try some searches - but I'm pretty sure no one's mentioned them in at least 2 years - if not more.

X2 on fooler chips. About 2.5 years ago stoutdog and I did a lot of looking at chips vs ECU tunes and it was pretty obvious that an ECU tune was a much more effective approach for a host of reasons. After 5+years and 60K miles I'd say your $600 investment doesn't "owe" you much; toss the dead/dieing chip and get a GDE tune.
