I have a 2006 CRD with a couple of mods, off road vent, easy to disconnect, but I also have a Scorpion tuner, do I need to disconnect it before smog check? Any Ca diesels owners here?

Some place I found all the training videos that BAR (bureau of automotive repair) sent to all the smog check stations but can't find them now. Basically, they look for any non-factory wiring in the engine compartment (tuner boxes in between plugs), tuner stickers on the car, tuners or other aftermarket boxes in the cab, etc. Then they do a visual smoke test, and you're out the door. So not sure about your tuner. They probably wouldn't have noticed the EHN but I figured it wasn't worth the risk so I just replumbed it.

The guy that did mine said that he looks for leaks, modifications, and smoke. I didn't have any mods when I had mine done and it passed with flying colors. It was also smoking bad under hard acceleration but he didn't notice. It is just a visual check and they get lots of money from us. sensored word. I DO know that I will be very careful not to advertise any sorts of mods. For example, black samco hoses, not advertising my GDE tune, etc.

Mine passed, I removed the off road vent line and broke the round vent canaster in the process, $40, and I re-installed the big plastic sound deadener, so with the new vent canaster deal and the smog check it cost me $97, this sucks. F Calif, these guys making the laws are idiots. But watch out once they do it in Ca the rest of the idiots like to follow.

I got my 05 CRD smogged today, $38 (including $6 efiling fee) total at a shop in Carlsbad, CA (San Diego). I didnt have the sound cover on the motor, it had the ECO Tune on it with the new whatever volt glow plugs. Passed with no issues, I couldnt observe the check or talk to the tech, so I dont know what (if anything). FYI
