I bought a 05 liberty last month and now its starting to get colder and I'm realizing that the glow plug light is not staying on? It is running fine but I'm thinking that light should stay on for at least 10sec or so, it turns off so fast I had problems finding it. does anyone know what could be wrong or is this normal for the jeep? I had a tdi and it stayed on for at least 20 sec. even when it was warmed up.

Pg 223 or the 2005 Owner's manual "2. Watch the “Glow Plug Indicator Light.” It will stay on for a maximum of 2 seconds, depending on engine temperature. When the “Glow Plug Indicator Light” goes out, the engine is ready to start."

Down here even in the mid-20sF I've never seen it stay on for any length of time.

Welcome to the forum. Now you need to read Sir Sam's NOOB guide for all the fun things you can do to make your CRD experience all it can be. If you scroll down far enough in the guide there is a link to PDF versions of the Owner's Manual, also available on the Jeep web site via the Owners tab, the factory service manuals, and parts manuals. Do your self a favor and download copies. Be sure to get both the 2005 and 2006 FSM. There are some differences between the years, stability control is only on the 2006 for example, BUT more importantly the PDF version of the 2005 lacks cooling system info for the CRD and lacks the diagnostic code information (in 2005 that information was in separate diagnostic manuals). Hence it's handy to have both versions. Also be aware that the manuals are not the most accurate in the world.

I've clipped a number of files dealing with various CRD issues/enhancements so I don't have to look them back up. If you want copies drop me an email.

You should double check the glove box for the manual. There is a hard to see slot above the box that the manual fits in. Many have thought they didn't have one, only to find out they just hadn't seen it. Worth checking if you haven't already.
