Post subject:  Turbo hoses and exhaust smell inside

Hello all,
I have recently fixed two problems with the ol CRD. These solutions may have been posted by someone else before, but my two cents worth. My driver side turbo hose popped on the way home from work last wee. No power and lots of black smoke. I found a two or three inch split in the bottom. Those hoses just ooze oil, which is the problem. I called my local dealer, he laughed and said he would call me back. In that time I found a set of Samcos and ordered them. The dealer called back and found the hoses, he would have to order them and the price was close to 400.00 for both. The Samcos were 254 and clamp kit 20.00 plus shipping around 285.00. The Samcos went on great and work just fine. Actually the parts guy suggested I go with the aftermarkets. My interior exhaust leak showed up after I had it loose to put a tranny dipstick in (a serious PIA). Since I had the turbo hoses off I remouved the turbo heat shield. My exhaust was not sealing because from underneath I could not get it seated properly and tight enough. I f you have this issue you might try to look at it from the top. Hope this helps.
