the dealer is in north jersey, something like jersey automall, but I just noticed the jeep must have been bought. They have a ton of diesel vehicles, benz, tdis etc.. I guess they found a market for it.

131,000miles.
Have been trying to find a replacement vehicle, have found nothing better.
Just losing trust in the machine but no real problems now.

I'm on roughly 112000 miles - today I put in a new clutch assembly and dual mass flywheel :banghead:

For the rest she is running like a real beauty :P

I have 131'000 miles on my 2005 CRD. Mix drives: highway, small mountain roads, and lots of off-road.
No big problems so far except : meltdown vacuum line, split stock CAC hose, leaking tranny cooler. And recently I have some overheating problems.
I really hope and do everything I can to pass the 300'000 km milestone...
It's my daily, vacation, road trip and offroad rig, I love it !

Make sure your not driving it with a head gasket leak.

If you have a small leak fix it sooner rather than later to eliminate an even greater problem relating to a warped head.

How can I know that the overheating is from a gasket leak ? Oil somewhere ?

On a cold engine, open the coolant bottle cap to release any pressure that might be there. Close it up again.
Run the engine for about 30 seconds to a minute, idle is just fine.
Shut the engine off, open the cap again.

Is there any pressure / hissing? You have a head gasket leak.

This is the fastest and easiest way to check for this potentially fatal problem.

I am at 199,500 miles and about to do my 2nd timing belt. Had the EGR flow control valve replaced at around 20k miles. Really been problem free. Shell Rotella T 5W40 full synthetic every 5k miles. But I do lose about a pint of coolant every couple of months.

Do the head studs while your at it.

Do the coolant-cap test, to check if you do have a head gasket problem. I would suspect the water pump with that mileage and such a slow leak, but doing the head studs when you do the timing belt is a good idea anyway.

Just so I understand, if I have pressure in the coolant overflow tank after I run the cold engine 30 seconds, I likely have a head gasket issue? I am not sure I understand why. Please explain. Thanks

Where else would you think the pressure would come from? Head gasket leaking exhaust/pressure into the coolant.

The reason:

Pressure is building up in the cooling system from exhaust gasses produced in the combustion chambers.

There is a leak at your head gasket allowing the pressure from the combustion gasses into the cooling system.

The sooner you repair the leak the better you will be ...... continually running your vehicle with a head gasket leak can warp the cylinder head, leading to more cost.

No other area.

I'm at 126,000 miles and doing my best to hit 200,000 miles. I figure I have at least 8 check engine lights to remedy before I get there!

Disable the EGR ASAP, I would do so with a Tune from GDE :D

X 1,000,000

Do yourself another favor, do the timing belt too. It degrades with age. Coolant flush and fill too. Use HOAT coolant.
