Just found out that the PO didn't change the timing belt at 100k... my Jeep now has 124k... Anyone on this fine forum live in the Sacramento/SF Bay area and willing to help me change the timing belt? It'd be more of me helping you, since I don't have the technical knowledge or special tools, but I'm interested in learning about how to do more difficult maintenance myself. I'd like to do some other maintenance at the same time (which I know how to do), such replacing the mechanical fan clutch, checking the inter cooler and turbo hoses for leaks, and changing the coolant. I just need some help with the timing belt! Any takers? |

I am in Chico and plan on doing mine myself as soon as I come close to 100k. I'm at 80K right now. I would be up for a timing belt party if you can hold out until I get near the 100k mark. Which probably won't be until next summer. Never done one as of yet. If your ever going to be in Chico and want to talk Jeep, PM me. Welcome to LOST. I can tell you, I would not be able to maintain my jeep without the wealth of info contained in this forum. |

Unfortunately my timing belt needs to be taken care of sooner than next summer, but I think I can wait on my boost hoses till next year! I'd be down to take care of those when you replace your TB. Any other CRD's in Chico? I haven't seen one yet in Sacramento! |

Hi, I just changed mine this past weekend. first time doing a timing belt. all seemed to go well. I live in the santa cruz area and would be willing to help if your up for a road trip. Mine is a 2006. I had about 104,000 miles on it and the belt looked fine. I also changed the waterpump, the idle pulleys and the tensioner. oh also the lower radiator hose. If you don't wanna drive here and just want to borrow the special tools I could probably do that. |

I do travel quite a bit, but I think the CRD is a rare one here since it was never sold here new. I have only seen 1 other to date since I have owned my CRD which was in Seattle Washington. |

My CRD is at 93k so I'm getting close. I'm wavering back and forth on doing it myself or trying to find a competent mechanic to do it. My local dealer had 1 CRD-trained tech and he did my early work (EGR replacement under warranty, etc) but I haven't taken it in for a few years - I'm scared to call and see if he still works there. We're on the list for a new electric car in July so it'll have to hold out until then. Sapo, I might drop you a line next year and see if you're up for helping or if I can rent the tools (payment in the food or beverage of your choice). Glad to see we're getting a small contingent of CRD owners here in NorCal! |

I'm past due (109k) for a belt change as well, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get around to doing it. At least I have a second car so I don't need to worry about getting to it right away. |

Don't push it too long, one of mine only made it to 116k before the belt slipped and trashed $1000 worth of rockers. |

Grywlfbg / kaspincrd, if either of you should want help or to borrow the tools (anyone else local to me is also included) for the belt change let me know. I live in Santa Cruz area but work on the peninsula, so meeting up shouldn't be a problem. |
