Hi All;

I just got an 06 Liberty CRD with 68K miles on it. Chrysler did an inspection and is ready to offer me 6yrs/72K miles extended warranty for about $3600. Do you think the offer from Chrysler is worth it?

Thanks

Ben :?:

No opinion but a couple of thoughts. Is that 6/72 from now (i.e. until you reach 11/17 or 140k miles whichever is 1st) and does it cover or reduce the cost of the timing belt job that's due at 100k miles. If both are yes it might be a good deal.

Thanks for the replay. The 6yrs/72K is from NOW. So it means till 2017 or 140K miles whichever comes first. It covers a lot of things, basically every mechanical and electrical component plus the timing belt.

I think the question was more to the maintenance costs or replacing the belt, not the coverage of the timing belt if it should fail. At 100k, you will need the service the timing belt. I did not think warranty's covered maintenance costs.

Just trying to clarify.

was this Chrysler? or third party sold through a Chrysler dealership?

Chrysler's pretty good - but they don't cover normal maintenance items - you have to pay to maintain it. - They cover if it's been maintained properly and it breaks anyway.

Ask to see the list of what's covered. I was unsuccessful in gettin it from Chrysler, or the dealer which Chrysler said had it. But they sure told me what WASN"T covered when I needed it.
