My CRd lost almost all power-Code was for turbo. Is there something peripheral that could cause the turbo to lose power besides the Turbo itself. That's so expensive to replace. Only 64000 miles.

actually a true blown turbo generally results in a block pressure welded into a block - with view ports at the bottom
however that's only happened to a couple of folks

Everyone else - blows the Turbo hoses

if you go to the Noob guide - it'll go over Turbo Hoses

Most likely your hoses as mentioned. Also new turbos can be had on Ebay for $1200 and not $2300 they quoted you.

if you're the second owner you might be able to get the 7 year 70,000 mile warranty transferred over to you. If you have a 2005 because I am changing my turbo on under the powertrain warranty. It cost me $125 to do that.

Check your CCV hoses or the turbo to intercooler hose and intercooler to motor. Also if your not blowing black smoke then it is also possibly a clogged fuel filter. I know that I have clogged a fuel filter and got an overboost code or atleast that is the code Advance Auto reader gave me. Plus if you blew your turbo then more then likely you have done exstensive engine damage and probably wouldn't of made it home.

Our 2005 had a similar loss of power, would black smoke but build no boost. It set a code for low boost/turbo performance(don't remember the Pxxxx number). Ended up being a boost control solenoid on top of the right inner fender. Seems that they use 2 solenoids to control the boost or wastegate. The first one is energized by key on power and them sends vacuum to the second solenoid that is controlled by the PCM. If the first solenoid doesn't open key on then the second is never going to see the vacuum needed to control the wastegate. I just bypassed the hose to the first solenoid to test and the power came back. Ordered and replaced the first solenoid. You can also test both solenoids with a 12v power supply like a battery and short piece of hose. Energize the solenoid and the port or nipples should pass air thru them in one side and out the other. This might not be your issue, but putting it out there if someone runs into it.

No wastegate. Variable vane turbo.

As folks have said, if your only symptom is loss of power and code for low boost, the problem is highly unlikely to be a blown turbo. And most likely due to a blown hose, which happens to a lot of people. This is pretty cheap to fix, the hose itself is less than $100, and labor to replace maybe an hour.

Sure looks like the turbo has a vacuum canister to control boost to me, but I haven't removed the turbo to say for sure. The service manual refers to a "wastegate" and this solenoid was causing the trubo the build no boost. Unless they are using vacuum to control a VGT turbo which inturn is allowing the PCM to control boost? How do I attach a picture of the solenoid that was bad?
