Anyone have information on Mopar tow package and why it drains battery on jeep liberty? Just replaced 2 year old autozone 34 today showed 60percent charged. While driving all lights came on and did strange things. Pulled over and shut jeep off and then would not restart. Pulled battery ran over to Autozone picked up new one for free dropped it in and vroom started right up. Could the problem be jeep or battery

Did the tow pkg come from the factory or was it dealer installed? If the latter you will have to dig around on the forum a bit, use the Google advanced search function to search "this" forum instead of the forum search tool. I recall some discussion related to battery drain if the tow package harness was hooked up a certain way.

The MOPAR trailer wiring kit that you buy from a dealer has the power for the relays that are part of both factory and dealer wiring connected to the 12 volt outlet on the dash that's always on. So long term the relays can drain your battery. The solution I and others used was to connect the wire to the fuse by the drivers door marked towing or something like that because it's switched
There's already a wire on that fuse and I soldered onto it behind the kick panel.
You can check by looking behind the dash outlet for a piggy backed spade connector that is specified in the instructions.
Now if your jeep has a EVIC then none of the above applies as the wiring is already in the right rear quarter panel for the towing harness :2cents:
Here's a good rite up on the towing harness situation.

Also there was a F45 service bulletin for a flash to the body control module for something running down the battery.

BUT it could be the battery you have is just not up to a CRD's demands :dead:

I have had the e-spec 7 pin and the US-spec 7 pin in mine and never had an issue with the battery. I installed both of mine as well.
