Post subject: | VAGCOM OBDII Generic Mode Parameters |
Some time ago, I borrowed a VAGCOM from a friend. I think it measured oil temp and oil pressure in real time, but locked up in five minutes like almost all scanners do with a US KJ CRD. Can anyone with VAGCOM experience commnent? However, check out the ELM 327 thread. I have been running this with a Droid X for a couple days and it does not seem to freeze up or do anything weird to the running of the motor or trans. If the VAGCOM can measure the above, these parameters exist in the ECU. Then it is just a matter of getting the TORQUE/ELM people to add these things to their package. Thanks, DOC |

I've got a vag-com and it only locked up while I was driving with it connected. It will read rpm, coolant temperature, throttle angle, air temperature, intake air temperature and maybe even manifold pressure (boost) and more but I don't think oil temperature was one of them. And I've not had it lock up sitting still. If your getting a Elm unit make sure it's a genuine Elm chip and not a Chinese counterfit one. They don't all work so well and a lot of them are sold on e-bay. |

I bought the one suggested on this site. Seems to work fine, but does not seem to list oil temp or pressure. (Many parameters are listed. Only the ones highlighted in green are available for a given vehicle.) It also seems to work on my 7.3 Powerstroke. DOC |
