Well, the dreaded day is coming quickly... TC replacement! '05 CRD GDE Full-TQ Eco Non-F37 TCM all else stock I have been getting slight shudder for the past 30k or so, only when climbing hills and lugging in 5th. Returning home from my recent hunting trip, dragging ~900lb trailer, I started to feel the shudder from 55-65 climbing a hill, and a slight vibration feel at flat-land 60mph cruise. Thankfully I have a wholesale account with a local Dodge/Chrysler dealership so prices will be a bit easier to take. 1. I have a parts list of: Euro TC, pump, Transgo kit, two filters, and an oil seal... anything else? 2. I know the pump should be replaced, but if I go with the Transgo should it still be replaced, or does it "fix" the old one (i.e. rebuild) 3. Is there anything else in there I should replace while I have the trans dropped out? Thanks! |

Pump does not need to be replaced unless the seal is leaking. GDE does not recommend TRANSGO because the electronics supposedly adjust and "undo" the effect of the kit. We have been towing 5000 lbs for over 30K miles with only the addition of the "euro" TC and have had no issues. DOC |

The transgo kit fixes the drainback issue in the front pump. As long as it is not leaking into the bell housing, you do not need to replace it. The rest of the transgo kit gets put in the valve body. It firms up the shifts a little bit. Just do not use the silly $0.02 resistor that comes with the transgo kit. This resistor is supposed to increase the fluid pressure, but all it leads to is jerky shifting. Also be very careful when removing the 2 snap rings on the front pump cover. I was not careful enough and bent the cover. This set me back 2 days waiting for the part. Also do not forget some blue loctite for the torque converter bolts and for some of the bolts in the valve body. |
