I just completed the Indy to Az trip pulling a 12 foot trailer(loaded). The Libby did a great job and averaged an honest 15MPG. The last 60 miles were an interesting ride. Heading from Payson, Az. to Mesa along Rt 87. Big hill @ 6% grade I ran out of motor, radiator and almost speed. Everything worked as advertised and I did make the top running 50 mph, but, temp was almost pegged and the computer cut the RPMs back to take to load off the engine and cooling system. I sure love this little workhorse. So, good trip with a minor issue. I hope this thing will run a very long time. I've gotta do a timing belt very soon, but ya wanna play ya gotta pay !!! Merry Christmas to All !!

I had the same problem on that grade in mid October pulling a 16' flatbed with a Polaris Ranger with snow tracks on it, roughly 3000 lbs total. The engine rpm never cut back but the coolant temp nearly pegged and I realized the little tractor needs a new fan/fan clutch and the TCU needs the GDE updated towing upgrade to keep 4th locked in longer. Towing that load really showed the weakness in the torque converter so that got replaced a couple of weeks ago. Waiting on fan & t-stat from moparparts and need to contact GDE for the TCU update.

I lived in Phoenix for 20 years and I know just the section of freeway you are talking about. Even in winter (you know, when the temerature gets down to 70 ;) ) it is a test for any vehicle.
