So, middle of summer my A/C just starts blowing hot air. Needs to recharged I think so have my local oil change shop try to add and they say it's either full or clogged. When I turn on the A/C, motor never turns on from what I can tell. I have next to no A/C experience. Have the 2006 with EHM. Other than that, stock. Anybody run into similar probs and know what to look for? What are your best guesses? Thanks in advance, WWV |

Do you mean your AC/Heater fan is not coming on when you turn the dial? |

I would suggest if you have little experience with it to take it to a proper automotive shop. You oil change shop obviously had no clue how to service an AC system. |

If your blower is indeed not turning on any speed but high then the ballast resister located behind the glove box is bad. It does sound like you'll need some help. |

Where in the US are you? Our CRD has both a low limit and a high-limit switch. Either being bad can cause the compressor to not cycle on. You said that your blower is moving nothing but hot air, so it sounds like the blower switch is just fine. You need a competent AC shop to help you, not a Jiffy-Lube type place where they are often lucky that they put oil into the correct hole in the engine (tho not the right oil if they aren't using DIESEL fully synthetic for you!) A GOOD AC shop will have a tech that will try the "mechanic's helper" trick first, of bypassing the low pressure switch with a paperclip. If the compressor comes on, and the system has gas, you should get cold air as a result. Measuring the system performance with pressure meters is imperative, as you will not be able to feel the correct operation with colder ambient temps this time of year. Depending on the result of this test, you are looking at a $15 switch (they are crap and die all the time) OR... Something more involved. THIS is why you need the competent AC shop. The time there will be well worth the $40 or so for a quick diagnosis, and you will be much more informed about what your system is doing. |

Thanks for input guys. Haven't been able to log in for few days. Will try to jumper and see what happens. If nothing, off to the shop. Maybe get discount since it's winter time......not. WWV |
