Post subject:  Jeep not heating up in cab
Ok I posted week ago about my issue and mentioned I had dealer do timing belt job. If I am correct the viscous heater must come off in order to do belt change. Is it possible they forgot to plug viscous heater back in. Interesting I had alternator fail and now no heat. Found this link that shows simple how to do timing belt job hope it can help someone else out. Jeep is 40 miles away once I get back home I will check to make sure it's spinning and plugged in.

Several things come to mine.
Number one is DIESEL ENGINES HAVE LESS WASTED HEAT because they are more effecient :juggle: Big lazy gasoline V8 engines put out more waste heat that make the cabin nice and cozy :roll:
Number two is even with the viscious heater there's not a lot of heat unless the engine is at operating temperature. They can idel all day and not warm up and cool off waiting for a stop light.
What was your temperature guage reading in warm/hot weather. If it was lower then one tick left of center your thermostat is bad. When mine was failing temperatures had to be above 90 degrees, on a interstate with the AC on before it would get to operating temperature :juggle:
It's easy enough to check if they plugged the viscous heater in but remember it has to be below a certain temperature before it operates and when it does the heater is just barley warm.
Lastly I think at least one person put the hoses on wrong when replacing their thermostat and had no heat :JEEPIN:

Yes, it is possible for a wrench to forget ANYTHING when they zip one up to send home. I've had mechanics forget to tighten an oil pan drain plug, forget to put on the belly pan, forget to tighten all manner of nuts and bolts, and many other misadventures. And people wonder why I go around after I've been forced to take a vehicle in for service and check after the guy who did the work.

I think it's easy to swap the viscous heater hoses and get nothing out of it....
don't know how to check them though.

Facing the front of the vehicle. Left hand port on viscous heater connects to the large plastic port on the tstat. Right hand port on viscous heater connects to hose running over the top of the tstat and on to the heater core connection at the firewall.

Ok just got jeep back and was warmed up right hand side heater core hose got hot other was cooler and easier to leave hand on left side. So I guess this means it is pluged? Will let jeep freeze then check at startup to make sure viscous heater clutch is engaging. Ok clutch is working fine must be heater core and viscous heater need cleaning. Maybe a chance jeep dealer put coolant back in dirty.
