Ok, my first oil change with my Skid Row plates installed. darn, I have a fumoto so the oil was no problem, but when I tried to remove the oil filter I leaked oil all over the plate and eventually over the sides onto my driveway!~ darn IT! What am I doing wrong? Thanks. |

It's relatively easy - basically a big drain bowl underneath:) If there's anything else, I have yet to find it. |

Aluminum foil - shape your own funnel to match - and it'll still spill some. |

Loosen filter slightly. Punch hole in bottom of filter with screwdriver. Drain most of the oil out of said filter. Remove carefully. Have lots of rags on hand. Now at least if you spill, it will only be a little. ![]() |

These are your friend for ALL oil changing applications. Steal them from anywhere you can get your hands on them. Unfortunately I have a wholseale account so have to purchase my own, but prior to that, theft was the best procurement method as they cost about a dollar each and so long as someone else is paying, they are worth 5x price paid ![]() They ignore water completely, and lock in oil almost absolutely When boats sink or do dumb things at the fuel dock, the marina will put up a containment boom and start throwing these out on the surface. (good time to steal them ![]() Imagine how helpful they could be around anything artificially painted/coated opaque black.... Oily hands (when you forgot to abscond with nitrile gloves first) wiped with these come almost clean, usually only needing dishsoap washing instead of industrial surfactants |

So what you're saying is short of removing the skid plate there is NO way to remove the filter without dumping nearly a quart onto the pan, and eventually the driveway! darn IT! Why isnt there a hole there as there is the drain plug???? |

I cut and shaped an empty round plastic gallon container, such as one used for windshield washer fluid and shaped it into a gutter like drain, hung one end under the oil filter and the other end I directed into a catch basin. No mess on the pavement. |
