My Stock navigation system no longer reads the Navteq CD, have any of you with the NAVTEQ encountered this problem and found a fix. I tried the disk cleaner and it worked for a few times but now it no longer helps. |

Is the CD visibly scratched? If it's not and you are brave you can take the RB1 apart and clean the laser read head with some microfiber cloths and alcohol. |

I just now took the RB1 out for cleaning. Removed the cover.............. looked inside and saw an intense maze of small plastic parts. I stoped and didn't go any further, i just blew the dust out with a hair dryer. I'll reinstalll it tomorrow morning and see if it fixed the problem. |

Both of the Mercury Mariner hybrids that my parents have (now down to one due to a wreck) have a NavTeq CD system... And both developed the same problem around the same time. The discs are perfect, never anywhere other than in a case or in the drive, and they don't use that drive for anything else b/c the vehicle has a changer. I have tried fixing them, blowing out the drive with canned air dusters... No effect. When it gets into a mood and doesn't want to work, that is it. The only solution I have found that works... Is to enjoy the thing as a radio and use a Garmin. |

About a year ago, I started getting the disc read error, please eject and check disc or something like that. I saw on another forum where cleaning the laser would fix this problem so I did but problem came back soon after. My disc does not really have any scratches that I can see. I also went to dealer and they let me borrow one of their discs they use for troubleshooting. Their disc worked fine in parking lot. I have ordered a replacement disc which has latest revision "AJ: from 2010. I should get it in a few days. I am hoping it will work. I will let you know how it goes. I think these discs just have issues sometimes; maybe mine is warped from heat because it stays in head unit all the time and it is pretty warm when you eject it...we'll see. |
