Question: I recently purchased a 2006 CRD, the owners manual service schedule says to check and/or replace the "boost pressure solenoid filter" at the same frequency of every oil change. I cannot find any info on this filter other than in the service schedule ?

Its the little clear plastic filter on the passenger side of the engine compartment behind the air filter

I found the filter and it looks clean. Any idea what it filters ie. air or fluid and what is the boost pressure for? Thanks for the help.

It filters air. I dont think it needs to be changed that often?? Mine is original at 93000kms. I blew air through it to make sure it was clear once. Maybe if you offroad in dusty areas then I would worry. Otherwise should be fine.

The local dealer here told me change it every 50,000 miles. I changed mine at 57k and it looked fine to me. I wish someone would tell me what the soliniod boost is for.

The turbo boost pressure is solenoid controlled. The solenoid controls vacuum pressure to the turbo's variable vanes. This filters the air going into that device, to protect it. Nothing more than that. I replaced mine at 50,000 too. You can probably just use a lawnmower fuel filter for cheaper.
